
Youth Worker – Youth Center and Recreation Programs
Job Summary: Get paid to ‘hang out’ with youth in our Youth Centres and other programs. Play video games, pool and sports - bake cookies, make crafts and play cards. Sound too good to be true? It’s NOT! But, even better than that, you will also have the opportunity to make a positive difference in our community.
What you will be doing WHILE you are ‘HANGING OUT’ with our youth:
- creating a safe atmosphere where youth can thrive
- increasing their sense of connection
- building self-esteem and self-confidence
- increasing their ability to manage personal and social relationships
- creating learning opportunities for youth to develop new skills
- encouraging positive peer interactions
- working with them to facilitate their personal and social development
What we need from you:
- enthusiasm, patience, and a sense of humour
- a positive view of youth and an understanding of youth issues
- a clean criminal record check
- a commitment to our diversity statement

When we need you:
- We are flexible and will work around your school, volunteer and other responsibilities. This is a perfect job for university students
- Shifts are during the day, evening, and sometimes weekends
- Shifts are mostly between 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm but can be anywhere from 9 am – 10 pm
- Shifts are between 2 and 6 hours in length
- You must be available to work at least three shifts a week.
