Life Skills Programs

FoodSafe (14-18yrs)

This level one course is for service front line workers such as bus persons, servers, dishwashers and cooks. Foodsafe certificate provided with successful completion.

Ages: 14 - 18

Cost: $80

When 

**Please bring: a lunch, a water bottle, and a pen or pencil.

Babysitter's Course (11-15yrs)

This Red Cross program will teach you the skills to care for infants to school aged children and help you become a responsible babysitter. Certificate provided upon completion.

Ages: 11 - 15

Cost: $65

When

**Please bring: A doll or teddy bear to practice diapering with, a lunch and a water bottle.

FOCUS – A Mental Health & Resilience Group (12–15)

Cost: $35 / person

Date: Wednesdays, October 7 – November 25 | 5:45 PM – 7:00 PM

Where: ARC Youth Centre

Description:

FOCUS is a welcoming group where youth build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and support their mental well-being through engaging activities and meaningful discussions. Participants will explore topics such as self-awareness, stress management, healthy relationships, communication, and confidence in a safe and supportive environment.

Where: Abbotsford Senior Secondary School

Description:

Volunteer with AYC as we support the Abbotsford School District's signature Back to School Event! Our team will be helping families carry food hampers to their vehicles using wagons or by hand. This is a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours, meet other youth, and make a meaningful difference in our community.

Description:

Join AYC at the Matsqui Recreation Centre for an Intergenerational Baking Exchange bringing together youth and older adults through recipe sharing, cultural storytelling, and family traditions. Participants will build meaningful connections while baking, sharing stories, and learning from one another.

Join AYC at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre for a cozy Winter Workshop bringing together youth and older adults for an afternoon of seasonal crafts, warm conversation, and festive fun. Participants will connect through creative activities while building meaningful intergenerational relationships in a welcoming atmosphere.

FV Gleaners Volunteer Opportunity

(12-18)

Where: Fraser Valley Gleaners Society (85 Winson Road, Abbotsford, BC V2S 8E8)

Description:

Volunteer with AYC at the Fraser Valley Gleaners Society and help prepare food sent around the world for humanitarian aid. Volunteers will assist with cutting and sorting vegetables, packaging soup mix, and cleaning equipment. No previous experience is needed—all training and equipment are provided. This is a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours, meet other youth, and make a positive impact locally and globally.

Free Programs

ARC & MRC Youth Centres

Hours: Mon-Thurs 2:30-4:30PM, Fri 2:30-6:00PM.

Our Youth Centres at ARC and MRC are free, fully staffed, and supervised, providing a safe place for youth ages 12–18 to hang out. Youth can enjoy video games, pool tables, ping pong, board games, free snacks, and different activities every day.

 

Free Dinner Night

Ages 12 - 18, @ BOTH Youth Centres

Various dates*

Once a month we host a family-style sit-down dinner at our youth centres. Youth help prepare and serve the meal while enjoying dinner together. Check our website for upcoming dates and times.

 

Open Gym

Ages 12-18, @ ARC Youth Centre

Tuesdays & Thursdays, 3:15-4:30pm*

Play basketball, badminton, nine square, soccer, volleyball, and more! Entrance through the youth centre.
