Drop-In Youth Centres

MRC Youth Centre reopens September 9 with our Grand Re-Opening celebration, and ARC Youth Centre reopens September 10

Both centres are fully staffed and supervised, giving youth a safe place to hang out after school, play video games and pool, take part in activities, and connect with friends.

Free Dinner Nights

Ages 12–18 | Both Youth Centres

Once a month, our AYC Youth Centres host a family-style sit-down dinner where youth help prepare and serve the meal. It’s a great chance to connect with other youth and enjoy a meal together.

Open Gym

Ages 12–18 | ARC Youth Centre

Join us for FREE Open Gym and play basketball, badminton, nine square, soccer, and more! Enter through the Youth Centre.

FOCUS – Mental Health & Resilience Group (Ages 12–15)

Cost: $35 / person

Where: ARC Youth Centre

Description:

FOCUS is a welcoming group where youth build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and support their mental well-being through engaging activities and meaningful discussions. Participants will explore topics such as self-awareness, stress management, healthy relationships, communication, and confidence in a safe and supportive environment.

Leadership and Volunteering

 

7th Annual Back to School Event (12-18)

Cost: $10 / person – complete the full event and receive a $10 gift card.

Date: Wednesday, September 2, 2026 | 2:30 PM – 7:00 PM

Where: Abbotsford Senior Secondary School

Description:

Volunteer with AYC as we support the Abbotsford School District's signature Back to School Event! Our team will be helping families carry food hampers to their vehicles using wagons or by hand. This is a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours, meet other youth, and make a meaningful difference in our community.

Intergenerational Winter Workshop

(12-18)

Date: Monday, November 2, 2026 | 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Where: Abbotsford Recreation Centre

Description:

Join AYC at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre for a cozy Winter Workshop bringing together youth and older adults for an afternoon of seasonal crafts, warm conversation, and festive fun. Participants will connect through creative activities while building meaningful intergenerational relationships in a welcoming atmosphere.

Intergenerational Baking Exchange

(12-18)

Where: Matsqui Recreation Centre

Description:

Join AYC at the Matsqui Recreation Centre for an Intergenerational Baking Exchange bringing together youth and older adults through recipe sharing, cultural storytelling, and family traditions. Participants will build meaningful connections while baking, sharing stories, and learning from one another.

FV Gleaners Volunteer Opportunity

(12-18)

Cost: $10 / person – complete the full event and receive a $10 gift card.

Date: Saturday, November 21, 2026 | 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Where: Fraser Valley Gleaners Society (85 Winson Road, Abbotsford, BC V2S 8E8)

Description:

Volunteer with AYC at the Fraser Valley Gleaners Society and help prepare food sent around the world for humanitarian aid. Volunteers will assist with cutting and sorting vegetables, packaging soup mix, and cleaning equipment. No previous experience is needed—all training and equipment are provided. This is a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours, meet other youth, and make a positive impact locally and globally.

Life Skills Programs

 

FoodSafe (14-18yrs)

This level one course is for service front line workers such as bus persons, servers, dishwashers and cooks. Foodsafe certificate provided with successful completion.

Ages: 14 - 18

Cost: $80

Where: MRC Youth Centre

When:  

**Please bring: a lunch, a water bottle, and a pen or pencil.

Babysitter's Course (11-15yrs)

This Red Cross program will teach you the skills to care for infants to school aged children and help you become a responsible babysitter. Certificate provided upon completion.

Ages: 11 - 15

Cost: $65

Where: ARC Youth Centre

When: 

**Please bring: A doll or teddy bear to practice diapering with, a lunch and a water bottle.
